Week 17 Update

Week 17

Through the eyes of a child

I had the privilege to spend a few days at the Magic Kingdom with three of my grandchildren, the girls ages 5, 7, and the oldest grandson who is 9. Most of the time was spent as an observer, and the rest of the time as a participant (or hostage) on the thrill rides.

The observer part was really fascinating, watching the excitement of the girls, how they reacted, and the looks on their faces when the Princesses were near by was priceless. It was the Fantasyland experience that was the most fascinating, the what’s real and what’s not real thing that was absolutely amazing.

The imagination, the what’s real and what’s not real, the what is possible thing, it’s everywhere in the Magic Kingdom, and who are we to argue with the children? I got to thinking, how could you tell all the kids that were there it wasn’t real, it was just a fantasy. Could you imagine what they might say, or how they would look at you like you were crazy.

Let’s see, I have a bunch of pictures of the kids with Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Belle, Aurora, and more. We had lunch at Cinderella’s Castle, it’s a real structure, it’s as big as life, the food was real, the people there were all real.

We can probably learn a lot from the children.

Most of what the MKMMA is teaching us is to realize that we can have whatever we want, we just have to believe that it is real! To go back to being that child with dreams, that stage of innocence where we think something cannot happen is difficult to do, but really where we need to be.

So find that kid in yourself…….that’s what Walt Disney did in building the Disney legacy, and wanted us to strive to do. He said;

“If you can dream it, you can do it. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably. First Think, Second Believe, Third Dream, and finally, Dream.”

Walt also talked about something that most people in the MKMMA understand and have heard paraphrased many times; “The more you are in the state of gratitude the more you will attract to be grateful for.”

It’s okay to think. believe, and dream like a child, so that you can build the castle of your dreams, complete with your own princes and princesses.  Just execute your vision, have the courage to pursue your dreams, believe, and they will come true…… Through the eyes of a child!!!

    So true! First, being the observer has such value! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Second, your observations made me think about the power I had as a child to feel that I could be whatever I wanted to be…When did I lose that hope? This Mastermind Alliance has rekindled that spirit! Great blog!

  2. Thank you Doug for this experience…it took me back to my childhood and I really enjoyed the journey through those young eyes.
